SECURITY / CCTV CAMERAS

RECORDS THE EVENT - AND SO MUCH MORE!

Choosing the best Security Solution for your individual requirement is critical when protecting what is important to you. That is where Pedigree Security comes in.

Whether you start with an Intrusion Alarm system, adding a Security Camera (CCTV) system which allows you to monitor what is happening with high-quality video is a must.

A Security Camera (CCTV) system monitors and record events as they happen. This is easy to achieve with an Integrated Security Solution from Pedigree Security.

There is a sea of camera choices, but we will do the hard work for you!

Whether your property is a million-euro villa on an exclusive resort, a Quinta in the countryside or an apartment in a city, the security of your property and those who live in it, should be your priority.

At Pedigree Security, we understand security systems and design each security installation to be as unique as the property it protects.

Run of the mill everyday security systems from main-stream security companies follow similar installation patterns and thieves understand them. The more unique your security system is, the less likely a thief will be able to understand it. The less they understand it, the greater the deterrent and protection!

MAKING THE CORRECT CHOICE

Choosing whether a Wired or Wireless Security Camera installation is the best solution for you and your property, requires careful consideration.

Wi-Fi Security Cameras

Wi-Fi and wireless security cameras offer significant benefits when it comes to the deployment and overall flexibility of the installation. They offer more freedom than their wired counterparts as they do not require a wired network connection and instead operate over a wireless signal, much like a smart device does in your home.

This makes them easier to install, but the location does depend on the strength and reliability of the Wi-Fi signal which is why Pedigree Security with Pedigree Networking will perform an evaluation of your Wi-Fi network to ensure it is strong, current and will allow the wireless security cameras to perform at optimum.

Ease of Installation: Wi-Fi security cameras can be installed in any property where there is a good, strong wireless network. You don’t have to run new network cables inside walls or across ceilings meaning the security cameras can be installed virtually anywhere that has a power source and, in the cases where the security camera has solar panel power to power it, they can be installed literally anywhere! This can make it especially easy to install a single camera in your property or near an entrance that has never been wired for connectivity.

Flexibility: Wi-Fi security cameras are easy to move, relocate or replace if needed. If your surveillance strategy changes or you want to reconfigure your set up / add new cameras to the system, no problem!

Portability: If there is connectivity, the flexibility of Wi-Fi security cameras extends far beyond the building especially with the solar powered versions.

Connectivity: Wired connectivity was generally more stable and secure than signals sent over Wi-Fi but with the roll-out of faster and more secure Wi-Fi protocols such as 5GHz, Wi-Fi 6 and now Wi-Fi 7, this is no longer the case so long as the wireless network is optimised.

Carefully placed wireless access points and wireless boosters with a good, stable internet connection, a well-maintained wireless network shouldn’t suffer disruptions, and the security cameras should remain online.

Cybersecurity: Wi-Fi security cameras with a carefully designed, secure and installed Wi-Fi architecture can be secure. So long as safeguards against internet-enabled threats such as secure passwords and logins are implemented all this should make a Wi-Fi surveillance camera system secure.

Wired Security Cameras

Wired security cameras have been the traditional surveillance option for decades. While their tethered nature provides a reliable, strong and secure connection, this can limit their flexibility. Newer and recently renovated properties that have ATi or ITED infrastructure installed, should allow for an easier installation for a wired security camera system. These connections will however need to be evaluated before installation to ensure the connections are correct, fully functional and are in the correct location for the desired surveillance results.

Wired Connection: Because a wired security camera is plugged directly into the network, this leads to more cabling and wiring considerations with the added security it brings.

Constant Power: Wired power, whether through a traditional electrical outlet or Power over Ethernet cable (PoE), is only as reliable as the electrical grid powering it which as we all know in Portugal can be hit and miss. For constant power and to protect the units, Pedigree Security recommend an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) with surge protection.

Installation: Installing and deploying a wired security camera system can be costly if cabling is required, time consuming and messy where cables and tubes are needed. Wires may need to be run, and logistical considerations mean that you may be limited in terms of where you can place each individual camera for the best surveillance.

Flexibility: Because a wired security camera is tethered to a specific location, you’re unlikely to ever move it after it is installed. This limits the flexibility to change anything if a location is renovated or if new construction pops up next door or blocks the camera’s visibility.

Older Technology: Wired security cameras are cutting-edge when it comes to their capabilities and include Infra-Red (IR) for night-vision, Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Facial Recognition as well as number plate recognition technology.

DOME SECURITY CAMERAS

Named for their dome-like shape, Dome Security cameras tend to be ceiling mounted and are ideal for indoor use because they are inconspicuous, durable, and offer a wide field of view.

They are available both wired and wireless.

BULLET SECURITY CAMERAS

Cylindrical and highly visible, these are ideal for outdoor surveillance and long-range viewing.

Usually, weatherproof Bullet Security cameras are the most widely used security camera.

They are available both wired and wireless.

TURRET SECURITY CAMERAS

Turret or "Eyeball" CCTV cameras are versatile, ball-and-socket surveillance cameras known for easy positioning, excellent low-light performance, and minimal IR glare compared to dome cameras. They are ideal for both indoor and outdoor security, offering high-resolution surveillance and perimeter monitoring.

They are available both wired and wireless.

IR Night-Vision Cameras.jpg

INFRARED CAMERAS (IR) - IR in security cameras enables surveillance in low-light or total darkness by emitting invisible, infrared light that reflects off objects and is captured by a sensitive sensor, resulting in high-contrast black-and-white video. These cameras are essential for covert monitoring, as the LEDs often emit no visible light, unlike traditional floodlights.

THERMAL CAMERAS - Thermal cameras use heat signatures rather than light to create images.

This makes them ideal for absolute darkness, smoky, or fogy environments, often used for perimeter security.

ANPR CAMERAS - ANPR or Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras are becoming more popular especially with property owners who have electric security gates.

These cameras automatically recognise the number plate of your car and when configured correctly, can trigger the gates to open without needing to enter a code, push a button on get out of the car.

SOLAR CAMERAS - Solar / Battery cameras are ideal for installation where there is no cabling to power the camera.

These cameras have a built-in battery which is charged via the solar panel during daylight allowing the camera to function via the battery in low light or night-time.

INDOOR CAMERAS - Indoor CCTV cameras are primarily used to monitor, secure, and provide peace of mind within residential properties.

Key uses include checking on family, pets in real-time, deterring intruders, collecting video evidence of theft, and monitoring sensitive areas like entrances or safe locations.

DOORBELL CAMERAS - Doorbell cameras are primarily used for enhancing home security and convenience by monitoring the front door area in real-time.

Users can see, hear, and speak to visitors via a smartphone, deter theft with recorded footage, manage deliveries remotely, and provide peace of mind through motion alerts.
