Pedigree Renovation was contacted by a client in 2015 who had purchased a six-bedroom villa in Galé near Albufeira with a huge garage / basement.

 

Used by his family as a holiday home, the client wanted to ensure all the amenities he had in his property in the UK, he also has in his property in the Algarve.

 

The brief from the client to include, Entertainment Room, Television Area, Gymasium, Snug, Wine Cellar, Store Rooms, Space to store jet skis, security for the property adna flood defense system.

Working on the layout with the client, we divided the areas and created a flow to ensure all of the space in the basement was used according to the client wishes.

​

The Construction

​

First, we treated the walls to protect against damp and using plasterboard construction techniques, divided the room and filled the void between the original walls and the plasterboard with rock wool to help reduce acoustics and to insulate the area. Special attention had to be given to a curved wall as the client wanted to retain this feature.

​

Networking was run throughtout the basement through Pedigree Networking to ensure good WiFi coverage and electrics were new from start to finish through our qualified and certified electrician.

The Cine-Lounge / Entertainment Room

​

The brief from the client was for us to create a multi-purpose entertainment space where he could either enjoy television, watch a film, entertain friends and family with a drink, have a game of pool or listen to music.

ProjectionDreams with Pedigree Interiors and Pedigree Entertainment designed a room where the client could enjoy everything.

​

The Entertainment Room comprises a cine-lounge with a wall-mounted 85" Sony Professional 4K television,  a 7.2.1 Dolby Atmos sound system using an Anthem A/V Receiver powering

M&K Sound in-wall / in-ceiling speakers and subwoofer, a Sony Proffesional BluRay player, UK television sytem, six custom leather electrically reclinable cinema seats in two rows, the second row raised on an acoustically treated stage, acoustic wall images and LED lighting - all controlled by an iPad with our automation system included for ease of use.

A custom black pool table with red baize with a black granite bar for drinks and a 4-seater sofa complimented the entertainment in the room.

 

 Luxury dark grey carpet with underlay finished the floor and assisted in the acoustic treatement of the room with all walls undergoing acoustic treatment before being finished in contrasting light grey paint on the side walls and black stone tectured wall paper on the front and rear walls.

The Gymnasium

​

A glass partician with health and fitness slogans added to the glass, separated the gymnasium from the rest of the Entertainment World. 3cm thick professional gymnasium matting covered the floor ready for the installation of the Technogym weight station, fitness centre the treadmill and the cycling machine from Pedigree Fitness.

​

In-ceiling speakers and a HEOS Amplifier controlled by an iPhone or iPad app, streamed motivational music into the gymnasium.

The Wine Cellar

​

The client wanted a secure location to store and be able to taste wine so we set about designing the space to include a custom oak wall mounted wine rack, some authentic wine barrells to be used as tables and a logo for the glass partician.

The Snug

​

Leather sofas, a 65" Sony Professional 4K television, Sony Professional 4K BluRay player and a beautiful rug completed an area where any member of the family can sit and enjoy what they wanted whilst the rest of the family could watch different programmes, films or sports events.

The Remainder of The Entertainment World

​

As a keen sporting family, the remainder of the basement was split between a garage where the jet skis could be stored when not in use, along with a toilet / shower room and two storage rooms for the sports equipment.
